Your vet is responsible for microchipping your kitten (a legal requirement in most areas) and will recommend a vaccination schedule to minimise disease risk.

You’ll need bedding, a collar and tag, a lead and harness, appropriate toys, grooming gear, a toothbrush and toothpaste, and poop bags — plus a puppy-proofed home and garden.

Puppies visit the vet often in their first 18 months for vaccinations and checkups — make sure your chosen vet covers vaccinations, microchipping and desexing.
